2nd Annual Field of Honor this Weekend

The second annual Field of Honor is taking place at Johnny Kelley Park in South Dennis through Veteran’s Day 11/11/14. There are 300 3×5 Flags flying in the Field of Honor this year. This is 100 more Flags than last year. This event is free. Each Flag is tagged with a name of a veteran, public safety official or loved one honoring their memory over the Veterans Day weekend. It is a very impressive sight and children are welcome. It is open to the public from sunrise to sunset. There will be a dedication ceremony at noon on Sunday, 11/9/14. I will be adding pictures to this slideshow throughout the weekend. As you can see from the photo’s there are a number of people and organizations involved, including school children assembling each individual flag on Friday morning before posting the flags in the Field of Honor. There are a hundreds of stories with each flag. This morning we had a 90 year old Marine Corps veteran of Iwo Jima ( walking with a cane ) come into the Field of Honor and Thanking Post Amvets Post 333 and the Chamber of Commerce for doing this. Don’t Thank Us, we Thank You for your service. Also if you took any pictures while visiting the Field of Honor and would like to share them in this slideshow, please send then to dennisportrevitalization@gmail.com
