It was a great past week for local Dennis Port Businesses and Developers. This past Thursday night at the Chamber of Commerce annual dinner at the West Dennis Yacht Club, the Dennis Port Merchants Association ( DPMA ) took home the Anchor Award for Beautification of the downtown area. Heritage Sands Developers, Rob Brennan and Mark DeWitt took home The Person of the Year Anchor Award.
If we take a quick trip back into the past, 4 years ago downtown had 11 vacant storefronts. Today every storefront is occupied with a thriving business. The 6 stores on the north side of the street were recently purchased in May. The new owner, Darby Ziruk, is planning on updating her new storefronts. Another new business will be opening soon on the west end of the downtown area. Kape Kabobs will be serving middle eastern food. The new owner has already dramatically improved the building and landscaping ( former home of Hit Pizza ). Cake & Islands has also done a great job in improving their building and landscaping. Pride is now the key word in the Village.
The east end of downtown is also going through a dramatic transformation of the strip mall. We have a second mural coming this month, funded in part by a grant from the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. We have free summer concerts on the Village Green every Tuesday and Friday nights during the month of July. We have 2 Bocce Courts on the Village Green for public use. The DPMA will be holding their biannual Block Party on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 1-6 p.m. More to come on this….
Here are a few slideshow pictures of the DPMA at the Chamber Dinner.
