Happy Summer to all!
Mark your calendars for National Night Out this year … TUESDAY, AUGUST 5th. From 4-7, we will have all sorts of displays from all different members of our community. We will have food and drinks, and we will be in DOWNTOWN DENNIS PORT. We want to help the village celebrate their resurgence, and to celebrate the community and its members. Come on out and get to meet some of the new DPD officers and some of the new businesses and organizations. We will have all sorts of goodies for the kids, music, and a live concert in the park. It will be great fun.
I have heard concerns voiced over parking for the event. It will be spread all over the downtown area, so parking anywhere in the area will leave you close to the fun. There is the municipal parking lots off Upper County Road (by the Improper) and the library and main parking lot off 28. We can also use the Ocean State Job Lot/Dollar Tree parking lot, as well as other private lots that will be marked with event parking signs, whose owners have given us permission.
If you were involved last year and want to get in on the fun again this year, let me know! If you have a friend or family member who has an organization, business, etc that would like to participate, please feel free to put them in touch with me.
We will have volunteers and detail officers in the area to slow traffic and help people navigate. There will be a parking ban on 28 in the downtown stretch during the event. Hall Street will also be closed. I hope you can help pass the word … last year was a blast and it was our biggest National Night Out yet! We want to make it even bigger and more fun! Fingers crossed for great weather and I hope to see you there!
