There is a change in Mural #2. A decision was made to stay with the nautical theme, but to make it more like a Cape Cod scene. As part of the grant $1,500 from the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, students from local schools must participate in the project. Activity at this location will be starting very shortly.
A big Thank You is in order for both small and large donors for this mural, especially a recent $1,000 donation from a Dennis Port resident. If you would like to contribute mail a check of any amount to the Dennis Port Revitalization Committee, c/o Town Hall, P.O. Box 2060, 485 Main st., South Dennis, MA 02660. Make a notation on the check it is for mural # 2.
Looking for high school students interested in helping to paint a highly visible mural on busy Route 28 in July. The concrete wall is 70 feet long and 15 feet high and will be a fun, colorful scene of a cluster of Sun Fish sailboats. Students will work directly with local artist, hans de Castellane, who has painted over 150 murals including the lobby of the Chatham Orpheum Theater.
The shifts for students will be 10am to 12:30pm on monday, tuesday and wednesday for the month of July, with small groups of 3. This is a great opportunity to make a contribution to the community, leave your mark on the town, learn about painting and art, and most of all, have some fun this summer.
To sign up for a shift, email Hans at firstname.lastname@example.org or go to his gallery and introduce yourself.
