Town Meeting Summary

According to the Cape Cod Times there were over 1700 voters that turned out for Town Meeting. I can attest to the fact that it was standing room only and that was after they opened the gym and pushed the bleachers all the way back to the back wall of the gym. The meeting didn’t start until after 7:30 p.m. The moderator asked for several delays in starting the meeting while people checked in. I arrived there at 6:25 p.m. knowing it was going to be crowded and most of the auditorium seat were already taken. I left before the meeting started, when the temperature hit about 100º in there and I was elbow to elbow with people around me and not knowing when the meeting was ever going to start. I also had an elderly woman standing next to me who didn’t have a seat. I gave her my seat when I left at 7:30 p.m.

The two big articles were soundly defeated. The Senior Center addition went down to defeat first after passionate pleas from both sides of the article. Pay As You Throw vote went down in flames sometime around 10:30. I have no idea what time it ended because I can’t find anyone that stayed until the end.
